Being certified by and becoming a member of APECC, is an important step for Don Bosco TEVT (Technical, Educational and Vocational Training). Our vocational college partner in Tondo, Metro Manila, offers students lacking the necessairy funds for college four different training streams: Hospitality & Leisure, Book Keeping (Entry Level Accounting), Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
Father Vester Casaclang, the Dean of Don Bosco TEVT, was the architect behind the APECC certification
The APECC certification was an important step for Don Bosco TEVT. Our students' diplomas are now recognised in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. It allows the graduates to work in these countries. APECC put a big emphasise on Don Bosco's digital preparedness and was happy when they noticed the leap the book keeping department had made with the new equipment and curriculum.
The Accounting and Technology Teachers of Don Bosco's Book Keeping Department
Today, it was quiet at Don Bosco. School holidays had started this week. Yesterday, the Hospitality School threw a big event for the students' parents. Despite thunders and tropical rain many students showed up to clean the reception rooms and put linen and plates back to where they belonged. The teachers worked on their plans for the next semester and reviewed the text books they write for the students.
Mrs Orcesitas, the Head of our Book Keeping School, shows us one of the textbooks that the teachers prepared. She will leave her position this month to spend time with her two children.
Before leaving, we all joked that - with all these positive developments - Don Bosco will soon have to change its logo. The current one represents engineering and hospitality. But book keeping and electrical engineering are catching up fast. Thanks to the new equipment, book keeping could add another class of 49 to its school. It has now 2 junior and 2 senior classes - both lasting 5 months - interrupted by five months of On-The-Job (OTJ) Training.
